Has the housing market slowed down because the economy is poor, because of high mortgage interest rates, or has it slowed because we have just gotten too greedy?

In my neighborhood and in my real estate office, there are homes that are selling quickly. Why? It is because they are priced to sell. So, how do you determine a fair asking price for your home when you're in the market for home selling? Ask your Realtor or loan officer about a home value estimation.

Home Value Estimates Can Give You Confidence in Your Home Selling Price

One of the first things you decide when selling your home is how much you want to sell it for. Before setting a fictitious amount, talk to your Realtor or to your lender about your home's value. Chances are both will recommend a home value estimate through a licensed home appraiser.

What an Appraiser Tells You about Your Home

An appraisal is the determiner of your home's value. Usually before we do a home mortgage loan we call our appraisers (and often more than one appraiser) for a home value estimate. We also call on our appraisers when assisting Realtors who are trying to accurately price a home. The appraiser will look at current sales in the neighborhood that are comparable to the home we are preparing to mortgage, or sell, and give us a home value estimate based on their research. The appraiser will often give us a "value check" for free; however, to ensure you have the correct sales price for your home, a full home appraisal is suggested.

Home selling and home buying are not to be taken lightly. To ensure you have confidence in the process, talk to your Realtor today and get a professional home value estimate. It can help you sell your home more quickly by helping you to price it correctly and price it to sell.
