Home buying and home selling become more complicated in fire prone areas. Three Things You Can Do To Sell Your Home
By Sheryl LandrumHome Worth Columnist
We have moved back into a normal cycle for home sales and homes are staying on the market longer than they were in the past few years. Here is a list of three things you can do to make your home sell faster, and sell for top dollar.
- Create curb appeal--Is your landscaping well-maintained and neat? Are there any cracks in your driveway or walkways? How does the paint look on your house? Walk your property with your Realtor and ask them for an honest assessment; take notes and follow through with your Realtor's suggestions to get a top selling price for your home.
- Spruce up your home! Marilee Lowe, a top producing Realtor at Prudential Realty in Bonsall, California says that "a clean home usually says to a buyer that the home has also been well-maintained." What does your home say to you? A thorough spring cleaning can help you stay at the top of your price range when selling your home. Remove clutter and personal items, keep your house clean and neat, and straighten cabinets, closets, and drawers--people will be looking.
- Make home repairs--if your house needs repairs, now is the time to do so. Many Realtors are now suggesting a home inspection before putting your house on the market. Correcting home problems before a buyer finds them will support your top home selling price.
