By Sheryl LandrumHome Worth Columnist
If you are considering selling your home but you are concerned that winter is a poor time to do so, think again. Winter might be the best time of the year to market your home and for buying a new home as well.
Here are some of the reasons why real estate shines in the wintertime:
- There is less competition in the home buying and selling market in the winter as most people wait until spring and summer to list their homes. While there is less activity, home buyers and sellers are generally more serious in making a transaction work.
- Homes usually show better during the holidays as well as they are "dressed" for the festivities.
- Did you know that January is the month with the highest corporate transfers? This is another good reason for selling your home in the winter.
- Realtors generally have less home inventory in the winter months allowing for more advertising for your home than what it would have in the spring and summer months.
- Realtors generally have fewer clients to manage in the winter which allows more specialized attention to your home buying and selling needs.
